The above Mercedes C220 was damaged by another vehicle fitted with a tow-bar. This could have cost £1100 to repair which included replacing the bumper (£424), light (£123) and chrome trim (£21)
The owner, not wishing to claim on insurance asked for our opinion. We advised that the split bumper could be repaired, the light was working and so did not require replacing but the chrome trim did. Subject to no other damage to the structure of the vehicle we quoted £280 plus £21 for the chrome trim.
A saving of £795.
This is just one example of the savings that can be made by repairing rather than replacing parts. Often the repair cost is lower than the insurance excess, so why claim on your insurance?
