SCRATCHES

If a scratch will not polish out, painting will be required and whilst a local repair may be possible (particularly for solid colours) it is not always sensible to do so within large panels since the repaired area may look different to the rest of the vehicle.

Some finishes contain Xirallics which are aluminium particles of the same graduations as opposed to metallics or mica which are based on diverse particles. In sunlight Xirallics will shine and shimmer and in poor lighting a silky film effect. The sparkle effect is enhanced by Xirallics shining in four planes as opposed to only one in metallic. Even a small scratch often requires complete panel re-painting.
